Our Projects

This project was a partnership between Sports Forward and three classmates (James Wernikoff, Tate Cohen, and William Edwards). We fundraised to build a sports recreational area in a tribal village called Chandala, near the small town Ghadchiroli, India. Chandala is a village that lacks basic needs and is filled with Naxalites (those distrustful of the government). The sports recreational area included a volleyball court, a kabbadi court, lighting, sports equipment, and some maintenance of the area (gardening, painting, and flattening the entire area).

We are excited to announce the completion of our first sports initiative at Modern Public School, Tarikhet, where we successfully introduced an organized sports program for the very first time. While the community was aware of sports, there had never been a formal opportunity for the students to engage in them. With a generous donation, we provided the school with basketball equipment, enabling the children to pursue their passion and foster physical development through organized play. This marks the beginning of a new chapter in their education and extracurricular activities.

We are excited to share that our project to bring the joy of chess to kids in low-income families in Nagpur, India, has been successfully completed! After engaging with students and the principal of Channulal Navin Vidya Bhavan High School, we donated multiple chess sets and provided a chess teacher for the entire year. Additionally, we organized four tournaments, offering scholarships to the winners. The impact of this initiative has been truly rewarding, and we are proud of the lasting positive change we've made in the community.

Archery for All
Our recent project took place in Chak Mochanwala, located in the state of Punjab. We brought the excitement of archery to kids in rural areas. After talking to numerous students, we donated archery sets, along with essential safety equipment and target boards.

We have successfully donated a full set of sports equipment, including a soccer goalpost, soccer balls, and badminton sets, to a school in Uttar Pradesh. This school previously had no access to sports equipment, and we are proud to support their students in embracing physical activity and sports (Project Still in Progress).

Odisha Opportunities
We are fortunate to share that we have completed our project in Odisha, India. This high school in Rourkela had relatively no access to sports equipment prior to our donation. We delivered a variety of nets, from volleyball to badminton and more. We donated rackets, balls, bats, and shuttle corks as well. We are honored to provide these kids opportunities they were previously not exposed to and impact their lives in this way
